Here's something I wrote to S about 3 years back.
To Sean,
I hold your little hand in mine, in time this hand will grow.
From abc's and 123's, to words and sentences that flow.
Your little steps one at a time I guide you as we go,
To skips and jumps you run about, your character I mould.
As time pass by, this hand will grow bigger than Mommy's hand.
Will you be always willing to hold my hand then?
When I grow old, white hairs will sprout all over my head.
And as I slur in old age speak, will you be patient instead?
Arthritis may catch me and as I hobble slowly down the road,
Will you guide me and gently hold my hand and walk with me back home?
From, Mommy. Dated 14 April 2010
I guess it encompasses all the usual hopes that a parent would want from their kids.
Love, filial piety, and the life expectancy to be able to see our child grow up, from a little helpless baby into an independent and successful adult.
Unfortunately, that would also mean that old age and all sorts of diseases and illnesses that come along with it would creep up on all of us.
There wouldn't be a best time for everything - when we are young and healthy, they are helpless and small.. then when they grow up into sucessful independant beings, we would be old and fragile.
But there would be good times along the way. Beautiful and fun moments. It is how we choose to view life and the journey that will be unique to each of us.

Dinner Date @ Song Ji
A leisurely dinner, just us, we two.
Alfresco, by the roadside & under the moon.
Mee pok for me, noodle soup for you,
With big & succulent 'her kiao's that is economical too.
Instead of fancy restaurants & pricey menus,
Just easy-going, hawker food for me & my beau <3
Amongst others, we were deciding between a Korean restaurant and an Italian one for dinner - both of which were 'cuisines of the moment' for me. He was just giving in to my whims because he wasn't particular in favoring either.
In a flash of idea, we suddenly thought of the 'sought-after & highly craved*' fish kiaos at Song Ji Fishball Noodle (at Upper Serangoon). It was decided unanimously that we would ride there for dinner if it wasn't raining.
And rain it didn't. So we were up and off on his white steed soon after. Needless to say, we enjoyed a leisurely dinner without the kids. We dined under the streetlamps with the moon shining high above. And while it wasn't breezy, the weather was cool enough to dine without having to sweat at all. Sitting by the roadside and enjoying the views of cars that drove past was an added point.
Looking back, would we have had a better dining experience if we had chosen to dine at either restaurants? Perhaps. But I guess to me, it doesn't matter.
Perhaps the atmosphere and setting might have been more romantic and cosy, but I enjoyed my time with my other half wherever that may be.
It doesn't have to have great ambience; a great companion would be much more ideal. And I certainly don't need to dine over flowers and candles. I am very much more at ease in relaxed settings.
I know we aren't the type to open our hearts out for a good and thorough heart-to-heart chat, but we enjoy each other's company, feeling secure in comfortable silence.
Of course, it would definately be a boon dining at someplace nice once in awhile. But for now, I'd be contented with nice hawker food & a wonderful hubby!
Bon Appetit!
